Nigeria’s Rulers Relocate to South Africa.

By Adeola

Nigeria never ceases to sturn the world in many ways.

Mr. Goodluck Jonathan is in South Africa. He is there with 6 governors and some aides. President Jonathan was accompanied by the Governors of Ogun, Kwara, Borno, Rivers, Edo and Delta; the Ministers of Information, Foreign Affairs, Women Affairs and Sports, as well as Presidential aides.

There are reports that more than 60 Nigerian Senators are also in South Africa.

This country is a nation of clowns.

What are all these morons doing in South Africa when Nigeria is in dire need of sound leadership and serious revamping?

South Africa is hosting the Football World Cup because they prepared their nation for it. What are we preparing our country, Nigeria, for?

From the South, to the North, from the East to the West, there are issues begging for solutions and attentions and more than half of the rulers and conquerors of Nigeria are on jamboree to something that doesn’t concern them.

These wicked people remain selfish and evil. What are they doing in South Africa? Is Jonathan going to strike in the next game? Are the state governors going to play the third match against South Korea? What the h*** are they stupidly doing in SA?

Indiscipline of the highest order! You will never find in the whole world or in the history of mankind a group of people who are so thoughtless and aimless!

Nigeria is begging for attention and a way forward in every aspect of our lives including sports and football.

I don’t think these people gallivanting around know the seriousness of the nature of our national problems. Not to think of the millions of dollars that is now wasted on these unnecessary trips. The cost of these trips will be enough to change millions of lives in Nigeria. It will be enough to construct some roads and build modern schools in some communities.

Nigerian rulers are selfish, wicked and heartless and someone somewhere should order them to return to Nigeria with immediate effect. They should not draw up the money from these trips from national treasury.

But who will ensure or enforce these disciplinary measures when Jonathan himself chose this time to travel to SA? Nigeria, oh my beloved country..! what a wasting nation!

Nigeria, where is your glory?

  1. Reminds me of the story of Emperor Nero; he fiddled while Rome frizzled away, while Rome burned.
How many of their counterparts did they see there in S Africa? Nigeria is a joke! It is now evident that these shameless people are in power just to satisfy themselves.
Maybe if Yar’Adua was alive, he would not permit that, abi?

  2. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

A few points I’d like to make:
    1) From what I have observed, this has now become something of a tradition amongst the elite to abuse the position of office which they occupy. Unfortunately, I don’t think this will be the last occurrence of this.

    2) I came across this story
    http://allafrica.com/stories/201006120022.html

In short, it says that President Jonathan offered to splash $1.7 million on the team if they beat Argentina. I won’t go into detail what I said, you can read it, I posted under “ocj”.
What sort of behaviour is this coming from the president? Is he not meant to lead by example? Even more so as his wife has been accused of money laundering to the tune of $13 million.
Whatever happened to financial discipline and accountability?

    3) No doubt if you question all those governors and others who have gone to South Africa, they will justify it as drumming up investment opportunities in the country (meanwhile they have their wealth safely invested out of the country). This is one thing I respect with the so called authoritarian regimes, their leaders are focused and disciplined eg Cuba, China, even South Korea. Their leaders are not engaged in unprofitable behaviour at the expense of the nation. They care for their country.

    4) If all these “dignitaries” and their associated hangers-on want to go. They should pay for it out of their own pockets, otherwise they should sit at home and support the national football team from afar (like everyone else).

    5) You are right that Nigeria, is overflowing with pressing problems, and this is what our leaders can do. It stinks. We can talk of environmental devastation in the Niger Delta, in Zamfara state (gold extraction), erosion due to agricultural malpractices (everywhere), the health and education system in decay, power, etc. It becomes increasingly difficult to sympathise with the country when as such it fails to prevent such corrupt and inept leadership to rise to the helm, consistently.

Until Nigerians wake up and raise the standards required for leadership and conduct of government officials and enforce it, we will continue to languish at the bottom of the heap in terms of human development. Look at President Chavez of Venezuela, or President Evo Morales of Bolivia, these are rulers who have the well-being of the country first, ( you can see the positive results they producing). You don’t see them flying here and there for no good reason. Shame on Nigeria.

  3. NIGERIA< NIGERIA< NIGERIA who will save you from the crazy polticians scarttered every where seeking for global attention, the present administration shifting their base to south Africa is a mark of high handedness which the nation has faced since the independence, the leaders finds it very had to cleanup the mess at home were there is no road shelter water, food, electircity etc. and going as far splashing millions of dollars to a team like ours brought about their defeat by the argentine team. please PRESIDENT GOOD LUCK JONATHAN i hope he is not using these dimention to preach for a presidential ambition come next year. nigerians let us be wise and learn to take our destinies by our hands that is the only way they politicians will respect our fundamental rights and correct bad leadership especially our syndrome of democratic dictatorship which is what are presently passing through today. i hope that they leaders will now relocate back now to nigeria since the argentine team trashed our million dollar team the super eagles. i believe that if we must move forward seeking global attention may not be the best but rather looking at our internal challenges both social, political, and religeus problems, jos crisis some men of GOD clamped down in jail etc, it is from there that the world will paste the due respect for us both political, economic etc.

  4. It is refreshing to read opinions from concerned Nigerians. However, on the trip by the president, I believe it was appropriate for him to travel to SA to support our national team even though the nation reaped what Lulu and his cohorts/Lagerback sowed. I believe Jonathan has taken a step in the right direction because if he ever leans to the usual hypocritical leadership of his predecessors, he will lose the support observers outside of Abuja are giving him now. Yes, those criminal senators had no business going to South Africa. If South Africa had no good road network, infrastructures, safe hotel facilities, stable electricity Fifa would not have given the privilege to host the tournament. It is shocking that these fools have been traveling to many countries in the world; they have seen how other nation states operate, yet they have no patriotism in them to change their hearts for the sake of sacrifices the founding fathers of Nigeria made. Nigerian politicians are astonishingly ignorant of what is happening in today’s world. They just lost it. The criminal lawmakers leave their electronic footprints all over the place. It is a matter of time the case against them is indefensible; because from the looks of things these hopeless men and women have taken hard-working and honest Nigerians for a ride. It is time for intelligent and patriotic Nigerians to act now. Nothing great has ever been easy, Nigerians must stop talking and guessing, it is time for them to send a stern message to these criminal lawmakers; without Nigerians, intervention, politicians will continue to ruin the country.
